2025 Volunteers of Year - Dean and Camille Eversley

Mr. and Mrs. Camille West-Eversley have been honored as Volunteers of the Year for their exceptional dedication and service to the Maryland District AAU and their community. Their contributions encompass a wide range of activities, reflecting a profound commitment to positively impacting the lives of others.

Before becoming volunteers with Maryland District AAU, Dean served as the Assistant Coach for his son’s basketball team, Severn Elite. He later became a full-fledged coach as Severn Elite developed into an established basketball organization that served many youth within the Laurel, Severn, Jessup, Elkridge, and Fort Meade communities in Maryland, during which he took on the role of Vice-President. Camille began her journey as a team mom during their son’s early years in basketball and subsequently joined the coaching staff in the founding of Severn Elite, Inc., where she served as Treasurer.

As their involvement in youth basketball grew—culminating in their role in establishing and promoting the first U-8 Boys’ Basketball World Championship in Salisbury, Maryland—Dean was invited to join the Maryland District Boys’ Basketball Executive Committee. He later advanced to become the Maryland District AAU Men’s Basketball Sports Director and served as a National Sports Commissioner for AAU Boys’ Basketball.

In 2018, Dean and Camille joined the banquet awards committee and were tasked with overseeing the Mel Parker Award process. Each year, they take on the responsibility of thoroughly reviewing the applications of award nominees. With every submission, they become increasingly impressed by the remarkable achievements of the young nominees, who not only excel in their sports and academics but also make significant contributions as volunteers in their communities.

The tireless efforts of Mr. and Mrs. Camille West-Eversley have created a lasting impact in their community. Their leadership, compassion, and commitment to service embody the qualities celebrated in Volunteers of the Year. Through their actions, they aim to inspire others to engage and contribute to the communities they inhabit.
