New Sports Director Appointed

Maryland District AAU Governor Ben Dubose announced today the appointment of Master George Glen Ames to the position of Taekwondo Sports Director for the Maryland District.

This appointment was effective November 1, 2017 due to the resignation of Scott Fiorillo on October 31, 2017.

Master Ames has been a member of the Maryland District AAU Taekwondo program for many years. In addition, he has partnered with District events and represented the sport at District meetings. "I am confident that under Master Ames' leadership and experience the Maryland District Taekwondo program will remain professionally run," said MD District AAU Governor Ben DuBose. "We are grateful to have him on our team and we have great expectations for this exciting sport!"

Glenn Ames SMALLHe is a 5th Dan Black Belt and a Class AA AAU official in Taekwondo. He owns 7Dragons which specializes in teaching Taekwondo to special needs students. He also teaches at Southern Maryland Martial Arts and enjoys assisting teaching the school's competition team. Master Ames has been practicing Taekwondo for 18 years where he started with his family. He began officiating in 2003 and continues with approximately 11 tournaments per year including AAU Junior Olympics and AAU Nationals.

Two of his daughters have achieved their 4th Dan Black Belts and one daughter is currently a recommended Black Belt. He appreciates watching the growth of his students mastering the broad range of skills offered through the lessons of Taekwondo. WELCOME ABOARD Master Ames!
